“Lisa was very professional, and responded back to me asap, no one left me hanging. If I choose to write another book, I would use Outskirts again, and I have recommended Outskirts Press to others and referred them to you. Thank you Outskirts for making it happen.”

Saundra Mathis-Copeland is the author of Gone Through Many Doors In My Life and the owner of Saundra’s Royal Fashions. Her specialty is original hat designs for both male & female. She is a very hard working woman who keeps it real, a mother of two beautiful daughters and who currently residing in Dorchester, MA. Saundra was inspired to write this book back in the early ‘90s. She had so much to express inside that sometimes she could not verbally convey it. What really inspired her to write was the negative experiences and challenges of living in a Boston Housing Authority Development in South Boston, MA. A Caucasian woman from the South Boston newspaper came by her apartment one morning after she heard about the racism in South Boston and she inquired about how she felt about living there. Saundra shared the many storms she had to deal with. She asked for Saundra’s permission to write an article about her and her daughters in the paper. After talking with her, Saundra thought that she would write her own story. She thought about how many doors she had gone through in her life. She knew she had to move out of the complex and the thought came about “Doors.” Saundra says, “I’ve gone through many doors in my life and I knew I had many more doors to go through.” Feel free to contact the author at
