Introducing Dorothy Mae Arington Payne, author of He Touched Me

“Leona was very helpful with everything. She answered my questions quickly and I could go on and finish what I needed to do. Everyone at Outskirts Press was very helpful. I really appreciate how professional everyone was. It was a pleasure to work with everyone there. You have a great publishing team at Outskirts Press. I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you again Leona. You are great.”

Dorothy Payne was born in Alton, IL on March 12, 1929 and raised by her grandmother. She was a homemaker, hairdresser and a dress shop owner. She was married to Charles Ray Payne and they had two boys, Bernie and Gary and lived in Bardwell, KY. Making a home and raising two boys involved her intimately in the subject matter of this book. Her eldest son, Bernie, died in a car accident his Senior year on the way to school. Instead of blaming the Lord, she turned to him for strength and understanding. She was a Sunday School teacher most of her adult life and a faithful servant. The writing of these poems is evident of her love for the Lord.

Product description…

This book is a collection of religious poems that are a precious gift from God to a Mother who struggled in life with her relationship with God and the trials and tribulations she endured in her life. It tells of her passion for her faith and her relationship with God. Her love and desire of Jesus’ teaching is evident in her poems. As you read her book it will raise questions and bring up ideas that need to be spoken about, but often never are. Some of her poems are gentle, and some more direct. Several poems are about Christian friends and what they mean to her and she to them. Her mission was not to force anything upon the reader, but to present the facts in her writing and allow the reader to determine what to think about their relationship with God and where they are headed. As you read her poem “Witness” all you have to do is open up your heart to Jesus and let him in. He just wants you to open the door. You will enjoy reading these heartwarming poems that reflect on her life experiences and her love for her friends, family and God. He Touched Me is a book you will want to share with family and friends, and one you will want to read over and over again.
